Included in the $125 visit
The service includes new standard batteries in up to six detectors and a clean, test and inspection of every smoke and carbon monoxide detector in the home. The count is not limited to six for cleaning, testing and inspection; the six-unit limit applies to included replacement batteries.
What is not silently bundled
A detector that has reached the end of its service life is a different job from a battery change. Jayson explains which units are due and why. Published replacement pricing is $65 per hardwired smoke detector and $85 per hardwired smoke-and-CO combination detector, with the specified First Alert unit, parts and labor included.
Prepare for the visit
If possible, note which unit chirped, gather any packaging or installation dates you have and make sure each alarm is reachable. Do not remove or disconnect an alarm to stop a warning. If an alarm is sounding for smoke or carbon monoxide rather than giving a low-battery chirp, get outside and call 911.
