North Metro Fire Rescue District publishes smoke and CO alarm guidance and offers battery-powered alarms at no charge to residents who are financially unable to provide one for their home. Contact the district directly for current eligibility and availability.

Call 911 for a sounding smoke or CO alarm, signs of fire, suspected carbon monoxide or symptoms. Call Detector Inspectors for planned battery replacement, cleaning, testing, inspection and replacement.
Choose the right path
A paid service visit is not the only route for every household. If cost is a barrier, start with the public programs. The goal is working protection, not a particular provider.
